Canadian International Auto Show
The new car dealers of the GTA and automobile manufacturers present the 30th Annual Canadian International Auto Show, bringing a phantasmagoric kaleidoscope of automotive passion and euphoria, to Toronto.
In 2001 THE CANADIAN INTERNATIONAL AUTO SHOW acquired the OICA; Organisation Internationale des Constructeurs d'Automobiles designation for Canada. The Canadian International Auto Show became the second Auto Show in all of North America to receive this prestigious designation, and is now the largest 'International' Auto Show in North America. What does this mean for the automotive industry' And of equal or greater significance, what does this mean for you the automotive consumer and participant of the Auto Show'
The answer is simple. For a period of ten days the doldrums of winter are forgotten and Toronto comes alive. Every automotive enthusiast, young and old, forgets the cold, snow and miserable winter weather and begins to smell the blossoms of spring in the shape of new exciting automobiles. During the Auto Show all the bells and whistles that the manufacturers can muster up together with all of the energies that the GTA dealers can expend, go into making this show the finest automotive extravaganza possible. The International designation ensures that Toronto receives its fair share of world introductions and first time unveilings, of concept cars and prototypes. The OICA designation ensures that displays, participation and announcements are of international stature and importance.
This year alone, the Canadian International Auto Show will have a total of 58 unveilings, 23 of which will be concepts, and 8 of which will be World introductions never before seen anywhere. In addition to this the Canadian International Auto Show will host an automotive design competion with 6 judges of international stature and 90 participants from 12 design schools from around the world.
By using the North and South Convention Centers and SkyDome, over 825,000 square feet of floor space are made available to display over 1000 new cars, vans, suv's and light trucks. In preparation for this year's Auto Show over five miles of carpeting bearing the Canadian Maple Leaf has been produced in the SkyDome alone, to ensure that each and every vehicle at the show is highlighted by spotlights, over 12 miles of cable is used to suspend the lighting grid work.
When you attend the Auto Show, to ease the burden of walking from one building to the next we recommend that you take advantage of the continuous flow of buses, available to take you from the North to the South Convention Center and to SkyDome. Take advantage of this service, giving you an opportunity to relax and rest you feet for a few moments before carrying on to the next venue.
For young families the Volkswagen dealers of the GTA sponsor the Children's Play Care Centre. This centre manned by professionals will engage your children in activities, while you take in all that the Show has to offer. So, no need to make arrangements with your sitter etc., take your children with you, leave them with the professionals at the Volkswagen Child Play Center and enjoy the show.
In addition, take advantage of the off road test track, set up to test drive SUV's off road. This experience is sponsored by The Bank of Montreal. Take the time, test-drive the SUV's available, on this engineered off road track.
The Show is a myriad of events all happening for your pleasure. With over 100 security guards, 75 car detailers working both during the day and at night to ensure that each automobile sparkles like a diamond, the Auto Show is truly Toronto's automotive extravaganza.
